DEER PROCESSING

OLD STATION CRAFT MEATS

As of October 2022, we’re pleased to introduce a new service for our customers - deer processing. Iowa’s deer season runs October 1 - December 18. See below for our guidelines for processing and the products we offer.

  • We will only accept clean boneless trim in food-grade containers/bags. No garbage bags of any type are acceptable and we reserve the right to reject meat that is dirty or not in a food-grade container/bag. We have bags available, if needed.

    • We do not accept quartered or bone-in portions of deer.

    • A charge of $25 will be assessed for any meat that needs to be cleaned up (removal of hair, dirt, leaves, etc.)

    • Meat must be delivered and accepted by an Old Station Craft Meats employee during normal business hours. No drop-offs outside of normal business hours.

    • Old Station Craft Meats will not commingle your meat with meat received from other hunters. You will receive back only your deer meat. However, all processing must be done in 25 pound batches of single product. Pork or beef can be purchased from Old Station Craft Meats and added to the deer meat in order to meet the minimum order requirements.

      • We recommend adding at least 15% pork to all products for improved quality.

    • Deer tag must be present when meat is dropped off.

      • We will not process deer from last year (2021-2022 seasons)

  • Customers will be notified when their order is complete.

    • Storage fees will be assessed weekly after 10 days of notification.

    • Product left beyond 30 days will be disposed of per Iowa DNR regulation.

  • We cannot accept deer that have been tested for CWD. If you provided the DNR with a sample of your deer for testing, you need to bone out your deer and put it in your freezer until you have received your test results. If positive, you will need to destroy your meat.

  • Old Station Craft Meats does not participate in the HUSH program.
