OUR STORY
Old Station Craft Meats opened in Waukee with one goal:
BRING QUALITY BACK TO THE MEAT CASE.
Two brothers — one who grew up raising livestock on a family farm, one a businessman — combined what they knew and opened a specialty butcher shop built on doing things right.
OWNER, NICK LENTERS
Nick brings more than 12 years in customer service and consulting to every interaction — and a farmer's understanding of what it takes to raise a quality animal. He knows where the meat comes from, what makes it good, and why it matters. That perspective is baked into every sourcing decision Old Station makes.
Five years in, the focus has sharpened.
We've built a full line of handcrafted products — jerky, snack sticks, bacon, sausages, cured meats, hams, and seasonal cuts — all developed and made on-site. Our team includes Dave, a Food Science-trained specialist and competitive BBQ enthusiast who oversees everything we put our name on. When you pick something from our case, someone here made it.
We're a full-service butcher. Premium cuts, handcrafted products, real answers from people who know their stuff, and a shop worth coming back to. Come in once — you'll understand why our regulars stop buying meat anywhere else.

Berkwood Farms is a coalition of over 60 independent family farmers. They strive to reach excellence by never sacrificing quality. Through this philosophy they have come to be one of the largest American suppliers of 100% certified heritage Berkshire pork, and the only farmer owned company with national distribution. While we prefer to know our farmers personally, we have great trust in Berkwood Farms and their network of farmers. Our relationship with Berkwood Farms helps ensure that we have access to a steady supply of high-quality Berkshire pork. In addition, Berkwood Farms produces many great smoked and cured pork products that are featured in our store.

The Holton Homestead was accidentally founded in 2015 when we moved to our small acreage in Elkhart. Immediately, we wanted fruit trees, a garden, animals, and bees. Our mission is to work with nature to provide you with our wholesome foods and natural products. Our promise to you is that our products will always be handcrafted by us.

Upper Iowa Beef is a story about a community that came together because of its belief in the right to know your farmer and know your food. They believe in providing humane care for their animals, respecting the farmers who raise their cattle, and in providing transparent information to the families who enjoy their beef.

On our farms, veal calves are untethered and can freely socialize with other calves in spacious barns. Our lambs are free to graze on lush pastures on our sheep farms and ranches. Excellent care and humane treatment of our animals are fundamental responsibilities for us and our livestock partners.

When the Krug brothers aren’t in school, they are tending to their flock of chickens. The Krug brothers’ chickens produce pasture raised eggs. We love the entrepreneurship of the brothers.
